BRC Area Dressage Qualifiers 2016 - Fantastic results for KKRC

What a great day for the club at the Riding Club Qualifiers on 9th July 2016 for team members Frances Pearson, Pip Parson and Rhona Campbell.
The team finished 5th out of 14 teams in the Novice dressage and 4th out of 8 teams in the Riding Test which was a fantastic achievement given that there were only 3 team members and therefore all scores counted.
Individual results were Pip 1st in the Novice Riding Test and equal 3rd in P14 with Frances being 5th in the Prelim Riding Test and 2nd in P14.
Thanks also to Gillian Shearer who stepped in at short notice but whose score couldn't be counted due to a last minute eligibility hitch.
Fab results ladies - check out the rosette haul above!

Recent XC training at Houston House, August 2015

Despite the dreadful weather this summer, KKRC have still managed to run cross country training sessions at Houston House. Below are some photos from a recent session where many members benefited from David Gatherer's vast XC knowledge and experience.
Thank you to Catherine Noble for the excellent photos.

Laura Swinnerton's News, August 2015

We have been following KKRC member Laura Swinnerton and her "other half" Sorcha II (Molly to her friends) over the last year in their quest to be selected for the British CIC** Team to compete at the European Championships which will run in Helvoirt, Netherlands in August, 2015.

The 2* Championships, previously known as Rural Riders, run every 2 years and is open to riders who are Riding Club members and have not competed at CCI*** level or been a member of any senior Championship team. It has a unique component to it which is the team dressage test which involves all 6 team members being in a dressage arena at the same time and performing a dressage test as a ride.

We have followed Laura through the highs and lows of what has undoubtably been a very memorable year for her. Her hard work saw her through to the final 16 which was a huge achievement but unfortunately she has not been selected for the final GB squad of 8. She is obviously very disappointed but says that she has had a brilliant time going through the training and has gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience that will serve her well in her future competitions.

As well as everything that has been going on this year, Laura has also relocated to a new job and home in Gloucestershire. However, everyone in KKRC is very proud of her achievements and that she was able to represent us to this level. Laura's blogs can be found in the right hand column of this page.

Thank you Laura keeping us updated of your quest and we wish you every success for the future.

KKRC members enjoy Awards for All fences.

KKRC are very fortunate to have been the recipient of an Awards for All grant that enabled us to buy a number of new fences for the XC course sited at Houston House, Renfrewshire. The new jumps are intended to introduce a technical element at grass roots heights so that everyone of all abilities can benefit from them. Anyone who was at the recent KKRC horse trials will appreciate how big a contribution they made to the quality of the various courses. The fences, including the corner and rolltop pictured below, have already also been used extensively in training days with many more planned over the summer - weather permitting of course!!!
Thank you Awards for All!
